When my third brake light wasn't working, I looked there and the wires where frayed. I'm hoping for an oddly named fuse or relay. It seems in the morning (first cold start) it works when I depress the brake (I can see it light up the rear window). However i have no idea how long they've been out... the factory bulb click when you install it. So a better solution than the current and past on/off brake position signal occurred to someone as an analog signal to let following drivers know the Rate of deceleration. Anyway if anyone knows the path of the wires from the light to the switch to the battery that would help too. So I found out my third brake light was not working. Brake Lights Not Working But Bulb Is Good But, when I did, found broken wires and a crack in the sheath of one of the conductors.

On the left side of the trunk near the trunk damper there is a rubber piece with wiring going into it. I have been messing with this damn thing for a while now and I am glad it is working. When you step on the brake, you should have battery voltage on the power side of each fuse. Is it just the high mount not working? No voltage at the terminals means the wires behind the socket should be back-probed if possible. If it too is not working, the brake-light switch, a bad fuse or an unplugged harness is likely.
