This solution worked great for me too! I have the same problem with that drive. It is typical of slot loading optical drives regardless of the brand and Apple do not make them ~ just install LG etc brands supplied under contract. Try other discs to see if the issue can be isolated to a single disc, or type of disc, as opposed to the drive itself. Do you buy a special disk? when i put it to open DVD player it instantly goes back to ignore.
